Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained founder of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has announced that Kanu has undergone a medical examination at a facility of his choice.
The examination took place at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja on July 30.
Ejiofor stated that the meeting between Kanu and his personal doctor(s) occurred outside the Department of State Services (DSS) facility, and he personally witnessed the consultation.
The medical examination was described as seamless and productive, and Kanu will be progressing to the next stage soon.
He said: “We are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday (Friday) in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service (SSS).
“As part of the protocol, I witnessed the consultation. The medical examination was seamless and productive, and he (Kanu) will be progressing to the next stage soon.”
This development follows a court directive ordering the DSS to grant Kanu access to a medical doctor of his choice while in custody.
