Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for “many weeks” following a hamstring injury sustained during the Gunners’ 5-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Saka, who was instrumental in Arsenal’s recent success, was forced off after feeling discomfort in his hamstring, and Arteta expressed concern over the injury.
“It is not looking good,” Arteta said, noting that Saka would be out for several weeks.
The 23-year-old England international was seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, adding to the frustration of what had been a strong performance from Arsenal, who had just secured a comprehensive win and advanced to the Carabao Cup semi-finals thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ hat-trick.
Arteta acknowledged the difficulty in assessing the extent of the injury at this stage but confirmed that Saka would undergo further tests.
“It’s very difficult to say how bad it is,” he explained. Additionally, Arteta mentioned the blow of losing Raheem Sterling just a day earlier, with uncertainty surrounding his return.
The news of Saka’s injury comes as Arsenal face a congested fixture schedule, with matches coming every few days.
Arteta is concerned about the impact of losing key players like Saka and Sterling but remains confident that the team will adapt and respond to the setbacks.
