NSA Babagana Monguno Alerts Public to Risk of Pre-Election Turmoil

The Nigerian National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno has released a public alert regarding the risks posed before the Nigerian upcoming election.

He issued an inter-agency consultative committee statement on Tuesday, February 21 about the potential for civil unrest due to the new naira scarcity.

The government is aware of domestic and international attempts to use difficult socio-economic conditions caused by well-meaning policies from the government in order to cause chaos surrounding the elections.

In light of this, security agents have been given orders to go after any individual or group attempting to perpetrate these acts, no matter their standing in society.

President Buhari is dedicated to ensuring a peaceful transition of power through free, fair and credible elections.
