Over 20 million Nigerians have already embraced the initiative, and the CBN is urging others to follow suit for seamless daily transactions.
The CBN recently took the e-naira campaign to the University of Jos, where they encouraged the management, staff, and students to use e-naira wallets for cost-effective transactions.
The CBN Jos Branch Controller, Esther Tinat, explained that the e-naira initiative is easy to use and can be used for purchasing anything.
The CBN hopes to capture the student market and encourage schools to adopt the e-naira for fee payment.
Izuchukwu Nwankpa, a CBN e-naira consultant, stated that over 20 million people have already embraced the initiative.
The e-naira is designed to facilitate small transactions and reduce the cost of banking services.
However, the University of Jos’s Vice-Chancellor and other principal staff have called for improved technology to ensure the payment process is not cumbersome.
