In a significant political development, chairmen, councillors, and women leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

This move includes the Nasarawa local government, which is the local government of the National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The defection of these key figures to the NNPP is seen as a victory for the party.

Among the notable defectors are Ado Tambai, the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa local government; Mudassir Aliyu, the Chairman of Garun Malam LGA; and Lawan Aramposu, the Chairman of Nasarawa LGA. Lawan Aramposu’s defection is particularly significant as he hails from the same local government as Abdullahi Ganduje.

The NNPP state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, attributed the defections to the exemplary leadership qualities of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He stated that Governor Yusuf’s leadership had attracted these APC members to the NNPP.

Governor Yusuf, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the defections and emphasized the importance of delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

He commended the new party members for their dedication to serving their local communities and criticized the APC for its alleged focus on personal interests rather than the welfare of the people.
