Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali reportedly met with Blues manager Graham Potter in California during the World Cup break amid fears that he could be facing the sack due to his team’s lacklustre performance before then.
Despite the club going on a four-game losing streak and slipping to eighth in the table, Potter looks set to be given more time to prove himself as new owner Todd Boehly appears determined to back him.
The meeting in California was reported to have been a positive one, with Potter stating afterwards that he was now even more confident of his standing at the club than when he joined three months ago.
He went on to give credit to those at the helm for their continued support, understanding and communication with him.
Tuesday evening will see Chelsea host Bournemouth as they strive for a top-four finish – something that looks increasingly unlikely – and Potter will be hoping for an improved performance from his side if they are to stand any chance of achieving their goal.
