A legal battle has erupted between the children of the late governor of Akwa Ibom, Idongesit Nkanga, and their stepmother, causing turmoil in the family home.
The children have taken their case to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, seeking to regain ownership of their father’s family house in the capital city.
The four children, named Etietop Nkanga, Ini-Idara Nkanga, Utibeabasi Nkanga, and Lance Nkanga, along with their mother, Joanna, have requested that the court reverse the warrant of possession issued to their stepmother, Mosun Nkanga.
The youngest child is 25 years old, according to their lawyer.
Mosun is the widow of the former military governor and retired air commodore, Idongesit Nkanga, who passed away in December 2023 due to complications from COVID-19.
The former governor had three children with Mosun and four children with his previous wife, Joanna Achibong.
The children are seeking to nullify the eviction order issued by Mosun.
