Troops from the 93 Battalion under the 6 Bridget of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended a suspected female kidnapper and a notorious gunrunner in Taraba State.

Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the spokesperson of the Bridget, revealed that the operation was based on credible intelligence gathered on the activities of these criminals.

The first arrest was made when the troops intercepted Joshua Dutse Idah, a notorious gunrunner, in Ibbi town of Ibbi Local Government Area.

Idah was on his way to Kaduna State in a blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, the troops discovered 1 PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines.

Idah confessed that he was en route to Katsina State to deliver AK-47 rifles.

In a separate incident, the troops also apprehended Janet Igohia, a suspected female kidnapper, in Chanchangi area of Takum LGA.

She was arrested after picking up a ransom payment of N1.5 million. During interrogation, Igohia revealed that she was married to Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase.

She also disclosed her current marriage to the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba.

Furthermore, Igohia had been previously married to high-profile criminals, including Terkibi Gemaga and Gana Terwase, both of whom were killed by security forces in separate operations.

Additionally, two other suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa and Usman Isah, were arrested in Mararaba Baissa community of Donga LGA.

These individuals were allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling.

The troops seized a sum of N600,000 from them.
