The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Council in Rivers has been granted an order from the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, preventing the state government under Governor Nyesom Wike and security agencies from arresting and intimidating campaign members.

This comes as a result of a motion exparte filed by leaders of the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council which was represented by prominent individuals such as Uche Secondus, Senator Lee Maeba, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, former Transportation Minister Senator Thompson George Sekibo, Celestine Omehia (derobed former Governor), Austin Opara (former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives), Chinyere Igwe (member of House of Representatives) and more.

The respondents were ordered to maintain the status quo until legal proceedings are concluded.

It is alleged that 35 supporters of Atiku were recently rounded up by security operatives while on their way to a political meeting with 21 eventually presented before a magistrate court and remanded on charges related to cultism.
