Prophet Solomon Alao, the Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, has cautioned the Federal Government against the arrest of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

In his Easter message on Sunday, the prophet urged the government to be careful in dealing with the opposition parties and their presidential candidates.

Alao stated that arresting Obi and Datti would heat up the polity and could lead to a repeat of the 1964 scenario, which would be devastating for the country.

He emphasized that the government should reassure the opposition parties that they would receive justice in court instead of threatening them with treason.

The clergyman advised President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to be magnanimous in victory and start handling reactions as someone ready to govern all Nigerians, irrespective of their sentiments.

He also called on Peter Obi to warn his supporters to watch their utterances and stop creating enemies for him.

According to the prophet, Peter Obi supporters, popularly known as Obidients, should know that there is a limit to political agitation in a democratic setting.

He urged them to be cautious about what they post on social media and avoid creating further tension in the country.

The C&S leader also stressed the need for more persuasion and conviction from the government and the ruling party to convince the opposition parties and their candidates that they would not interfere in the judicial process.

He believes this is the time to reassure them and build trust.
