WAEC Suspends Manual Confirmation of WASSCE Results from 1999 Till Date

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has suspended the manual confirmation of West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) from 1999 till date and has launched a digital platform for the confirmation of results.

The platform allows candidates to access, download, and share their original WAEC certificates, while institutions and organizations can promptly and securely confirm the certificates of candidates.

The digital certificate platform was launched in October 2022, and candidates can also recover burnt, lost, and damaged certificates online.

The WAEC Head of National Office for Nigeria, Patrick Areghan, said the development of the portal was to ensure seamless and swift confirmation of results as well as to “eliminate fraud and send fakers out of the market.”

The platform can be accessed online through and the mobile version can be downloaded on the Android and IOS app stores.

Institutions, organizations, agencies, embassies, high commissions, etc, are requested to provide email addresses for the digital sharing, receiving, and verification of certificates.
