Afrobeats star D’Banj has confirmed plans for a joint tour with 2Baba and Timaya. The anticipated tour will bring together three of Nigeria’s renowned artists on one stage.
According to Adesope Live, where D’Banj recently gave an exclusive interview in London, the artists aim to celebrate the global success of Afrobeats and reconnect with fans worldwide.
D’Banj revealed that the tour will feature him alongside 2Baba and Timaya as they perform their most popular songs. He also shared that a new collaboration with 2Baba, titled “Feeling Good,” is expected to launch soon and may become the theme for the tour.
Speaking on the rise of Afrobeats, D’Banj reflected on the growth of the genre. He praised the role of the African diaspora and the creatives who helped Afrobeats break into the international scene.
He said:
“I was speaking with someone the other day and he was like, ‘Banger, it’s okay, you’ve entrepreneur enough. It’s time to come out.’ And I said the same thing. I’m speaking to 2Face as well. 2Face was telling me – let’s go on a tour together. We have myself, 2Face, and Timaya. We have great bodies of work. Because of how our industry is, there is a big market for everyone. So, yes, we will be going on a tour…”
D’Banj emphasized that the D’Banj joint tour, 2Baba collaboration, and Timaya Afrobeats tour are set to appreciate the loyal fan base that has supported their music journey for over two decades.
He also reflected on the shift in cultural acceptance: “I remember when in this London it was not that great for you to say you are a Nigerian. We all wanted to be Jamaicans. Back then, everybody was embracing Jamaica, so for us [Africans] to be the new pop [it is a big deal]. These days, there is no UK movie that I’ve seen and our music is not in. So a big kudos not just to the creatives but to the whole community.”
