Eddie Murphy set to play Inspector Clouseau in MGM’s upcoming Pink Panther reboot

Eddie Murphy is in talks to play the iconic role of Inspector Clouseau in MGM’s upcoming Pink Panther reboot.

The film will be a live-action/CG hybrid and will be directed by Jeff Fowler, with Chris Bremner writing the screenplay.

The project is still in the deep development stages, but insiders have revealed that the premise will take a buddy cop movie tone, with Inspector Clouseau and the Pink Panther teaming up for the first time ever on the big screen.

The movie will be produced by Dan Lin, Julie Andrews, Larry Mirisch, and Jonathan Eirich.

In his recent acceptance speech for a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, Murphy shared his blueprint for success, which includes paying taxes, minding your own business, and keeping Will Smith’s wife’s name out of your mouth.

Murphy also expressed his enthusiasm for a fifth Shrek film and a Donkey spin-off adventure, stating that he would be open to reprising his role as Donkey in a heartbeat.
