Elton John's Top 5 Most Rare and Pricey Cars Revealed

Elton John, a musical icon for six decades, has not only made a mark in the music industry but also with his love for cars.

He is known to own a garage filled with luxurious and powerful vehicles, some of which are among the rarest and priciest in the world.

Elton John’s collection boasts an array of different automotive makes from around the globe; nonetheless, British motors have always been his favorite.

Though he has bought and sold many cars over the years, some of his most remarkable cars remain some of the most expensive ones on the market.

With five Grammy Awards and over 300 million albums sold worldwide, Elton’s talent knows no bounds while his car collection leaves us breathless!

1972 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4

In Elton John’s impressive car collection, the 1972 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 stands out as the most expensive.

With only 158 examples ever produced by Ferrari, this classic roadster has become quite rare and valuable over time.

Originally debuted in 1968, the Daytona quickly gained a reputation as an instant classic due to its sleek design and powerful engine.

In fact, Lionardi Fioavanti, the car’s designer, claimed that it was “the best I have ever done and the one I am proudest of.”

With improvements made from its predecessor, the 275 GTB/4, including a longer and steeper nose for improved aerodynamics and a cutoff tail, this car is truly unique.

It boasts a 4.3L V12 engine that produces 347 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just five seconds flat.

The top speed of this beauty is an impressive 170 miles per hour, and it utilizes a five-speed manual transmission for classic gear-shifting pleasure.

Today it is worth $528,100 – proof that this legendary model remains on a pedestal above many other high-end cars.

1993 Jaguar XJ220

In 1993, the Jaguar XJ220 held the title of the fastest production car worldwide.

Only 282 sleek roadsters were produced by Jaguar, making it a rare find. Elton John even owned one and sold it at an auction for $307,000.

With its Lamborghini-esque body and powerful, twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine that could outperform a V12, this was Jaguar’s first supercar.

The car debuted in 1989 after two years of development to finalize details such as switching from a V12 to the muscular V6 used in racing.

Though some buyers felt that the switch to rear-wheel drive took away from the final product, the scissor doors, 6-speed manual transmission, and ability to go from 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds with 542 horsepower under the hood made it stand out as a timeless classic.

1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Limousine

Elton John’s 1973 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Limousine was a work of art.

The car was produced by H.J Mulliner & Co., an English luxury coachmaker, and the basic chassis was provided by Rolls-Royce.

The finished vehicle is one of only 374 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIs ever made, making it one of the most exclusive and sought-after luxury cars in history.

Elton John famously sold his beloved limo at auction in 2001 for $292,000. Originally introduced in 1968 to replace earlier models, the Phantom VI Limousine was a common choice for transportation among heads of state and royalty.

Elton John’s bespoke ride featured a 6.7L V8 engine capable of generating 200 horsepower, a four-speed automatic transmission and could reach a maximum speed of 112 miles per hour.

Its real virtue, however, lay in its luxurious design – supremely engineered for providing passengers with one of the most comfortable rides possible.

Air conditioning units separately powered for front seaters and rear passengers were just one aspect that marked this car as truly spectacular.

Furthermore, a built-in bar compartment completed its status as not only convenient transportation but also emblematic of true sophistication while on-the-go for Elton John and friends alike.

1956 Bentley S1 Continental Sport Saloon

The 1956 Bentley S1 Continental Sport Saloon is a true classic of British motoring.

Elton John purchased his own model in 1976 and spared no expense in outfitting it with modern amenities such as power steering, air conditioning, and an updated stereo system.

In fact, John considered this beauty to be “the most beautiful car… that’s ever been designed.”

The car stayed in his collection for many years, demonstrating his love and appreciation for the unique elegance of Bentley automobiles.

After being sold in an auction in 2001, Lord Sugar (known for his role on the U.K.’s “The Apprentice”) purchased the car for $240,000.

In 2017, Lord Sugar put it up for auction again with an expected selling price range between $530,000 and $670,000.

This stunning vehicle runs on a 4.9L Inline six engine and has a top speed of 119 miles per hour with an output of 177 horsepower through its three-speed automatic transmission.

Elton John’s taste in cars favors vintage luxury models that turn heads with their style rather than high horsepower or speed metrics – making the Bentley S1 Continental Sport Saloon a perfect fit for his collection.

1985 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is an iconic British sports car that has been around for decades.

It has even appeared in many “James Bond” films, cementing its place in British racing culture.

In 1985, Elton John happened upon an Aston Martin showroom in London and was immediately drawn to the vehicle’s stunning design – as anyone would be when encountering an Aston Martin Vantage.

The musician had a custom finish applied to his 1985 model, including a regal cherry paint job, BBS wheels, and an upgraded stereo system.

The V8 Vantage featured a 5.3L V8 engine producing 432 horsepower with a top speed of 170 miles per hour and could accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 5.4 seconds thanks to its manual transmission.

However, Elton John wanted more power and installed an RS Williams upgrade in 1992 to bring the engine up to a whopping 7.0L producing a jaw-dropping 510 horsepower.

He eventually sold this iconic car at auction for $134,000 – a testament to the enduring legacy of the British motoring excellence embodied by the Aston Martin brand.
