Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to deny the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, any study leave request.
Matawalle believes that Emefiele must give an account of how he managed Nigeria’s financial monetary systems and answer questions about the Naira redesign policy.
The governor also stated that Emefiele initiated and implemented disastrous policies that put Nigerians through untold woes and trauma and set the economy backwards.
Matawalle, along with two other governors, took the Federal Government to court over the ill-advised policy and fought resolutely until they got a respite for their people.
The governor believes that Emefiele must stay at his job to give full accounts of all that transpired under his watch to the incoming administration.
In a similar development, Tinubu’s spokesman in the southeast, Dr. Josef Onoh, urged the Department for State Security (DSS) to ensure that Emefiele does not leave Nigeria for any study leave abroad.
Onoh believes that Emefiele has nothing to worry about, as the incoming administration of Tinubu has made education a top priority.
