England made it to the top of their Nations League group with a 3-0 win over Greece in Athens, bouncing back from a disappointing defeat to the Greeks a month earlier.

In a bold move, Harry Kane was started on the bench by interim manager Lee Carsley, a decision that could have backfired.

However, the risk paid off early in the match.

Within the opening ten minutes, Ollie Watkins found the net thanks to a clever cut-back from Noni Madueke.

Despite controlling much of the game, England struggled to extend their advantage in the first half, with Jude Bellingham hitting the post with a header.

In the second half, Bellingham’s involvement continued to be pivotal.

His shot, which struck the post again, ricocheted off Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos and trickled into the net to double England’s lead.

Curtis Jones then sealed the win with a brilliant flicked finish on his debut, finding the corner to make it 3-0 and ensure all three points.

The victory put England in control of their Nations League fate heading into their final group match against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, knowing a win would secure their place in the knockout stages.
