Erik ten Hag has suggested that Harry Maguire may leave Manchester United, stating that it is a decision for the player to make.
Maguire has not been a regular starter under Ten Hag, only featuring in eight Premier League games and making a total of 16 appearances in the competition this season.
With other defenders like Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw being preferred, Maguire often finds himself as the fifth choice for the manager.
When asked about Maguire’s future, Ten Hag stated that he is happy to have him on the team, but ultimately it is up to Maguire to decide.
“Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job,” he told the Times. “But it’s also a decision he has to make.
“No one would be happy with this situation – he is not as well. He trains always on the best levels, so with 100% effort. So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad.”
Despite the situation, Maguire continues to train at a high level and is an important captain for the squad.
In November, it was reported that United would consider offers for Maguire in the upcoming transfer window.
