WhatsApp set to add New Username System and Screen-Sharing Option for Video Calls

WhatsApp is currently working on several new features, including a username system and screen-sharing option for video calls.

The username system will allow users to choose a unique name for their account, which may eventually replace phone numbers for finding and messaging contacts.

WhatsApp’s screen-sharing feature will enable users to share their screen during video calls, with the ability to record sections of the call.

Other changes include a status archive feature for business accounts, improved support for message drafts, and a password reminder feature for encrypted backups.

These features are currently in development and may be gradually rolled out to users.

Some users may notice small changes to the bottom navigation bar and a new icon during video calls to enable screen-sharing.

However, the wider accessibility of this feature remains unclear, particularly for large group calls.
