Amadou Onana, the Belgian midfield star of Everton, has made a shock u-turn in his transfer decision.
Originally courted by Chelsea to add firepower to Graham Potter’s squad ahead of the January transfer window, Onana declined the offer despite having attracted plenty of attention with his impressive performance for the Toffees since arriving from Lille last summer.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, the 21-year-old is determined to stay at Everton and assist them in their Premier League survival bid.
However, it is not all lost for Chelsea as they may use this window of opportunity to try and change Onana’s stance on leaving Everton; Arsenal are also seen as being more realistically interested in recruitng Onana, who has an estimated market value of £50m per Everton – more than double that which was placed on him just five months ago.
