Former Special Adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, is set to take on a new role as Executive Vice Chairman at The Sun Newspaper starting from 1 September.
The appointment was approved by the company’s founder, Orji Kalu, a senator.
Adesina had previously served as the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper before his appointment as presidential spokesperson.
In an interview on his last working day, Adesina revealed that Kalu had offered him the position to ensure he had a place to return to in case he did not enjoy his time in government.
The delay in starting the new job is to allow Adesina to take a well-deserved rest after serving as the ex-President’s spokesman for eight years.
He plans to use this time to write his memoirs in a quiet place somewhere in the world.
Adesina was appointed Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) by ex-President Buhari on 31 May 2015, and had previously served as the president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
