Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has responded to the ongoing calls for his return to office. His reaction came during a service of songs for the late Edwin Clark, leader of PANDEF.
Several leaders at the event voiced their support for Fubaraâs reinstatement, condemning the state of emergency declared in Rivers and the suspension of the governor, his deputy, and all lawmakers from the state assembly.
According to a report by Jane Ibe from Zestradar, Fubara distanced himself from the political discussions. He addressed the gathering by saying, âMy spirit has already left there,â further expressing that he was not necessarily interested in returning to his post.
The suspended governor also reminded attendees to focus on honoring the life of the late Edwin Clark, rather than getting caught up in politics.
Fubaraâs remarks reflect his detachment from the political situation surrounding his suspension, leaving his future in the hands of those calling for his reinstatement.
