Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola rued his team’s missed opportunity after their 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, a defeat that could have closed the gap to leaders Arsenal to two points.

Harry Kane scored a record-breaking goal midway through the first half, sending him beyond Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer and Soccer leaving both sides of North London with something to celebrate.

Despite having chances through Riyad Mahrez and Erling Haaland to equalise, Man City succumbed to Tottenham and Guardiola admitted: “Yes, of course, Arsenal have dropped few, few points so far and of course, there was an opportunity”.

He went on to add that it was important for Man City to secure Champions League qualification for next year’s campaign but that mistakes had again cost his team.

While Arsenal put additional distance between themselves and Man City by losing at Everton earlier in the day, Kane moved closer to ending Guardiola’s title dreams as he turned down a summer transfer from Manchester.

Assistant Coach Cristian Stellini paid tribute to Kane’s performance, revealing Antonio Conte called his players after the match to congratulate them on their victory while recovering from recently having his gallbladder removed.
