Uchenna Ogundu transfer, Hearts FC transfer news, Nigerian forward in Turkey

Heart of Midlothian FC are showing strong interest in Nigerian forward Uchenna Ogundu as they continue to reshape their squad under new manager Derek McInnes.

According to The Scotsman, the 19-year-old forward currently plays for Turkish side Sanliurfaspor and has caught the attention of the Edinburgh club following his impressive displays in the Turkish 1.Lig last season.

Ogundu, who was promoted to Sanliurfaspor’s first team midway through the season, scored six goals in 19 appearances, operating as a central striker and occasionally from the right wing.

Despite Ogundu’s contributions, Sanliurfaspor were relegated from the 1.Lig after finishing in the bottom three of the 20-team league. Hearts could now move quickly to capitalise on the situation and potentially bring the young Nigerian forward to Tynecastle Park.

The teenager is known for his pace, strength, and ability to beat defenders. He is confident with the ball at his feet, effective in the air, and often finds himself in good positions inside the box whether starting out wide or through the middle. His willingness to take shots and his physical presence could offer Hearts a fresh attacking option.

Hearts are believed to view Ogundu as a winger rather than an out-and-out striker. The club are also considering other options, including Islam Chesnokov and Daniel Arzani, though neither of those potential transfers has been straightforward.

So far this summer, Hearts have secured four new signings. The club is working to finalise at least two more additions in the coming days, with Stuart Findlay and Portuguese forward Claudio Braga both expected to join soon.

Meanwhile, Sanliurfaspor responded to growing speculation about their transfer dealings. The Turkish club released an official statement addressing the situation.

“None of the transfer news about our club that has been published on social media channels in recent days reflects the truth. These baseless claims have nothing to do with our club’s transfer policy,” a spokesperson said.

“As always, our club carries out the transfer processes professionally and confidentially. Real information will only be shared through our club’s official communication channels. We emphasize once again that such intentional and unfounded news harms our club and expect our fans to act with common sense.”

As Hearts continue to pursue their targets, Ogundu remains a name firmly on the radar as part of the club’s summer recruitment drive.
