Inmates reject Seun Kuti, begs leader with N25,000

Seun Kuti, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is currently being held at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department in Lagos for assaulting a police officer.

While in custody, he was appointed as the “General Overseer” of his cell by the inmates, who handed him a copy of the Holy Bible as a symbol of his new position.

However, the appointment was not without drama as the inmates initially rejected him.

Seun reportedly promised to give them N25,000 and had to call his wife to bring the money.

Once the money was handed over, the inmates accepted him and provided him with a space to sit.

Seun was so upset by the incident that he refused to eat for almost a day and a half, but eventually started eating again.

He is now leading the inmates in prayer sessions whenever necessary, and they all chant “GO, GO” after the sessions.

Seun’s visitors have included his brother Femi, other family members, lawyers, and friends.
