Manchester United great Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has put to rest rumours he was a Liverpool fan as a child, declaring that “it was in my blood”.
In an interview with James Richardson on the Kings of Europe podcast, the Norwegian confessed that though he denied rumours in 2016, it had in fact been true all along.
Solskjaer explained that Match of the Day airing in Norway every Saturday during his childhood had shaped his fascination for football supporting — and Liverpool were always at the top back then.
With Kenny Daglish, Ian Rush and other key players of the time powering the Reds’ wins, it’s hardly surprising that young Ole got dedicated to the club.
“It was hard enough to say as a Man United player” he admitted to the podcast.
Nonetheless, seven years later it’s finally out in public: despite claiming he “bled red” while at Old Trafford, Solskjaer has now confirmed his long-term backing for Liverpool since childhood.
