Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has expressed his support for Nigerian Afrobeat star, Davido, in the face of calls for an apology over a controversial music video.
The video, released by Davido’s label, featured a scene that some Muslim devotees found offensive.
Despite deleting the video, some Muslims are still demanding an apology.
However, Soyinka argues that Davido does not owe Muslims an apology, citing previous offensive comments made by former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai, against Christians without facing similar demands for an apology.
Soyinka emphasizes that it was not Davido’s music that caused harm or violence, and therefore an apology is unwarranted.
