Kaizer Chiefs have officially signed Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro, NaijNaira can report. The 23-year-old forward joins the Soweto-based club after spending several seasons on loan in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.
According to Soccernet.ng, Ighodaro was previously signed to Mamelodi Sundowns but never featured for the first team. He developed his skills during loan spells with Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu FC.
The talented striker from Benin City delivered an impressive season with AmaZulu FC in 2024/25, even though the club faced challenges on the pitch. His standout performances convinced Kaizer Chiefs to secure his services permanently.
Kaizer Chiefs see Ighodaro as an important addition to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. “I am excited to start this new journey with Kaizer Chiefs,” Ighodaro said.
The striker has already applied for a visa to travel with Kaizer Chiefs on their pre-season trip to the Netherlands. His signing forms part of the club’s rebuilding plans following a difficult season.
Etiosa Ighodaro’s market value has climbed to €1.40 million as of May 2025, based on data from Transfermarkt. Known for his strong left foot, Ighodaro also offers versatility by playing as a right winger.
Kaizer Chiefs, who finished ninth in the DStv Premiership last season, expect Ighodaro to bring fresh energy to their attacking line. “He is a quality addition to our squad,” a club official confirmed.
Ighodaro will join his new teammates soon as pre-season training begins.
