French football star Kylian Mbappé is currently facing a media frenzy following reports from Swedish media regarding a rape investigation that was opened by prosecutors on Tuesday.
Although Mbappé has not been officially named by the authorities, reports from outlets such as Aftonbladet and Expressen have stated that he is the subject of interest in an alleged incident that allegedly took place in Stockholm.
The Swedish Prosecution Authority confirmed a criminal report had been submitted but did not disclose any details about the individuals involved.
According to reports, Mbappé is “reasonably suspected” of rape and sexual assault, the lower degree of suspicion in Swedish law.
Mbappé’s representatives unambiguously denied these claims, stating that they do not even know if he is the accused.
