Spain edged France 2-1 to secure their place in the finals of Euro 2024 with Yamal stealing the show with his wonderful goal and impressive performance.
The 16-year-old etched his name in the record books becoming the youngest goalscorer in the tournament’s history.
Yamal’s goal and his overall performance earned him the man of the match award.
Leading up to the game, France midfielder Adrien Rabiot had suggested that the stage would be too big for a 16-year-old Yamal. “If Yamal wants to play in a final, he has to show more than he has done.”
At the end of the game, the 16-year-old seemed to hit back at Rabiot, as he turned to a camera and, gesturing with his hands, shouted, “Speak, speak.”
When asked who he was sending that message to during the post-match press conference, the Spain International replied: “It was for the person it was for, he will know that it is for him.”

When asked if he thought his goal was the best one scored at the Euro 2024 thus far, the youngster humbly responded: “I don’t know if it’s the best goal of the tournament, but for me, it’s very special, because in the end my first goal in a European Championship with the senior team is something very special and I’m very happy to get through to the final.”
On being asked how he feels to be one of the standout players at such a big tournament despite being only 16 years old, Lamine replied: “I try not to focus too much on that because it doesn’t help you at all, I try to help the team, that’s what I tried to do today and in the end, anything that helps the team, well, I’ll be there.
