LinkedIn introduces free identity and employment verification for users

LinkedIn, the popular networking site and recruitment platform, has introduced a new way for users to verify their identities and employment roles for free.

This move sets LinkedIn apart from other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which charge for similar services.

The verification process involves partnering with CLEAR in the US to verify a user’s government ID and phone number, which will then earn them a verification mark on their profile.

This new feature aims to combat the issue of fake profiles on the platform, which have caused problems for users in the past.

While the existing workplace email verification method is available globally, it is only supported by 4,000 companies and is not useful for freelancers and self-employed workers.

LinkedIn is also partnering with the Microsoft Entra Verified ID platform to provide up to two million users with free digital workplace IDs.

The platform plans to roll out these free verification methods to more markets in the future, with the hope that it will lead to better connections and job opportunities for users.
