Messi’s Statue to Stand Alongside Maradona and Pele at South American Museum
Lionel Messi, the celebrated Argentine footballer, has been honored with a statue at the South American Football Federation (CONMEBOL) museum in Luque, Paraguay.
The statue, which depicts Messi holding a replica of the World Cup trophy, stands alongside those of Brazilian legend Pele and Argentine icon Diego Maradona.
Messi led Argentina to their first World Cup victory in 36 years in Qatar last year, following in the footsteps of Maradona.
At the unveiling ceremony, Messi expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of pursuing one’s dreams.
The Argentine Football Federation also recently renamed the national team’s training facility after Messi, who scored his 800th career goal in a friendly match against Panama.
Messi has scored 99 goals for his country and is poised to become the first Argentine player to reach 100 international goals.
