However, Lookman’s header secured the win for Atalanta, marking their ninth consecutive Serie A victory.
The win sent Atalanta to the top of the league, two points ahead of Napoli, although they have played one more game.
In contrast, AC Milan are now struggling in seventh place with just 22 points.
Their inconsistent form has hindered their progress, leaving them with much to improve as they look to climb back up the table.
Looking ahead, Atalanta will face a tough UEFA Champions League clash against the reigning champions, Real Madrid, on Tuesday evening.
