Barcelona are now shifting their focus on signing Ilkay Gundogan from rival Premier League club Manchester City at the end of this season.
The 32-year-old midfielder is set to be available on a free transfer as he has less than six months remaining on his existing contract.
Taking into account Catalonia’s style of play, based upon Pep Guardiola’s philosophy, the experienced German international could be an ideal fit for Blaugrana, especially after Fernandinho departed last summer and left Gundogan as City’s captain.
As Gundogan may depart from Etihad Stadium, there is speculation that Barcelona could make a move for either Jude Bellingham or Declan Rice.
