Massive protest set to commence over Naira Redesign

Should  President Muhammadu Buhari fail to sack the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Godwin Emefiele, and his team within seven days over the planned naira notes redesign, a group, Concerned Northern Forum have vowed to embark on massive protest.

CNF stated this during a press conference that was held at the Arewa House yesterday, stressing that failure to meet their demand would force the group to stage massive protests across the Northern region and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The spokesperson of the forum, Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem, during the conference in Kaduna said the redesigning of the naira bills would not improve the lives of people except hardship which the vast majority of their people were already at the receiving end.

He said the prices of food and other daily items used and consumed by their people have increased beyond control and the probability of the increase in crime rate was high due to the bad financial policy of the apex bank.

He said, “We must state categorically clear that the large population of Nigerians have lost confidence in the current leadership of the CBN to initiate and introduce policies that would improve the economy of our dear nation, and so, therefore, we maintain our earlier position which includes the following

“The immediate suspension of the whole process of the new naira design, the immediate sack of Mr Godwin Emefele and his entire team for failing Nigerians having been the longest serving governor in recent time, prosecution of those behind this devilish and wicked agenda.
