Meghan Markle has decided to prioritize parenting and stay in California for Prince Archie’s fourth birthday instead of attending King Charles’ Coronation.
While Prince Harry will be attending the event, the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
According to royal expert Gordon Rayner, Meghan’s decision can be summed up in three words: planning, parenting, and regrouping.
It is believed that Archie’s birthday played a big part in their decision, and friend of the Sussexes, Omid Scobie, confirmed this on Twitter.
King Charles was said to be disappointed but happy that Harry will be attending.
Meghan’s absence from the event has led to speculation that she may not attend another royal event in the future.
Despite missing the deadline for RSVPs, Harry’s attendance was confirmed on April 12th.
Robert Jobson, author of the upcoming book Our King: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, praised Harry’s decision to attend but predicted that Meghan may not attend any official or Palace events in the future, apart from the King’s funeral.
