Fear grips Catholic church as Pope Benedict is reportedly ‘very sick’

Pope Francis has revealed that his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI is “very sick” in an important message calling for prayers for the 95-year-old former head of the Catholic Church.

He made this plea during his audience at the Vatican earlier today, requesting his followers to remember Benedict and pray to the Lord to comfort him.

Despite not mentioning what ails the ex-pontiff, it is known that since he resigned in 2013 due to deteriorating physical and mental health, Benedict has grown increasingly frail over the years.

His longtime secretary, Archbishop Georg Gaenswein, confirmed this back in April by noting that though his condition is weak and fragile, he remained in good spirits.
