Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in Eddie Nketiah as he prepares to fill the void left by the injured Gabriel Jesus for Arsenal.
In an interview, the Premier League club’s boss said that he had full faith in Eddie and that he was a key player in their squad.
He added that although one of either Nketiah or Gabriel Martinelli would be leading the line for the team now, he hinted at potentially making significant signings during the transfer window to make the team better.
Moreover, Arteta mentioned that they could not afford to miss out on getting a suitable player as every point will be crucial for them going into their fixtures with Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United in January.
Quizzed on Nketiah, who starred at the end of last season, the Arsenal boss said: “We have more faith in Eddie every single day.
“We see every day what he brings to the team, what he is as a human being and the way he is developing as a player. We got a great response last year when we needed him and he did really well for the team.
“He is ready. That is why he signed his contract. He is a key player in our squad and he is going to have chances to play.”
