Who is the most expensive goalkeeper in the world in 2022? Kepa Arrizabalaga became the most expensive goalkeeper of all time in 2018 after Chelsea bought him for €80 million (£71 million) from Athletic Bilbao.

10. Francesco Toldo – Fiorentina to Inter Milan (£23.8M)

Toldo is one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. He played for AC Milan, Fiorentina and Inter Milan throughout his club career.

In 2001, the Italian joined Inter Milan from Fiorentina for a fee of £23.8M and this earns him the spot of tenth in our list of top 10 most expensive goalkeepers in the world.

9. Aaron Ramsdale – Sheffield United to Arsenal (£24M)

Ramsdale plays for English club Arsenal in the Premier League. He has played for Bournemouth and Sheffield United so far in his career.

The Englishman joined Arsenal in 2021 for a fee of £24M which made him the most expensive goalkeeper in Arsenal.

8. Jordan Pickford – Sunderland to Everton (£25M)

Pickford currently plays for English club Everton in the Premier League. He played for Sunderland for 6 years and went on loan to Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End.

The English man joined Everton in 2017 for a fee reported to be around £25M which made him made him the third most expensive goalkeeper in history at the time.

7. Manuel Neuer – Schalke 04 to Bayern Munich (£27M)

Neuer plays for German club Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. He is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the sport and he is also a serial winner winning almost every trophy available to him.

He started his career at Schalke 04 in 2006 and moved to Bayern Munich in 2011 for a fee worth £27M.

6. Jasper Cillessen – Barcelona to Valencia (£30.5M)

Cillessen plays for Eredivisie club NEC. He has played for Ajax, Barcelona and Valencia in the past. The Dutchman joined Valencia in 2019 from Barcelona for a fee of £30.5M.

5. Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea to Real Madrid (£35M)

Courtois currently plays for Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. The Belgian started his career at Genk in 2009 and then went to Chelsea in 2011 going on an immediate three-year loan to Atletico Madrid till 2014.

He moved to Real Madrid in 2018 for a fee of £35M becoming La Liga’s most expensive goalkeeper, breaking the record set by Jan Oblak.

4. Ederson Moraes – Benfica to Manchester City (£35M)

Ederson plays for English side Manchester City in the Premier League. The Brazilian started his career at Ribeirao in 2011 and moved to Rio Ave one year later before going to Benfica in 2015.

He then joined Manchester City in 2017 for a fee of £35M which made him the most expensive goalkeeper at the time.

3. Gianluigi Buffon – Parma to Juventus (£47.5M)

Buffon currently plays for Parma in the Italian Serie B. The Italian is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of all time. He played for Parma, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain throughout his career so far.

Aged 44 he is likely to retire at his current club. He joined Juventus in 2001 for a fee of £47.5M.

2. Alisson Becker – AS Roma to Liverpool (£66.8M)

Alisson plays for English club Liverpool in the Premier League. He is regarded to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world due to his distribution and ability in one-on-one situations.

The Brazilian started his career at Internacional in 2013 before moving to Roma in 2016. He joined Liverpool in 2018 for a fee of £66.8M.
