There are pressures on the President-elect to not rush into making decisions about the zoning of leadership in the National Assembly due to ongoing political intrigues among politicians from different regions in Nigeria.

The internal crisis in the APC and counter-reactions from contending regions that may lose out in the power game could affect the May 29 inauguration and distract Tinubu from focusing on his tasks.

A source suggests that the President-elect has the ability to resolve the matter and make all regions happy, but it is better for him to make a decision on zoning after his inauguration.

The opposition parties, comprising PDP, NNPP, SDP, LP, ADC, and others, have the majority in the House of Representatives with 180 members, while the ruling APC has 178.

Joshua Chinedu Obika, an elected member of the House of Representatives, said that the opposition members would unite to make the 10th National Assembly a robust one.

The APC cannot determine who becomes the next Speaker of the House of Representatives because they are in the minority.

The majority will take it, and APC can still take the position of Speaker, but that can only be determined by all members, not by the APC as a party.

National Vice Chairman, Northeast of APC, Salihu Mustapha, said the aggrieved National Vice Chairman, Northwest of the party, Salihu Lukman, has agreed to withdraw the suit he instituted against Adamu and National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The party stands united behind Adamu and Omisore.
