NDE Begins Nationwide Registration of Unemployed Nigerians for Job Opportunities

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has launched a nationwide registration process for all unemployed individuals in Nigeria, regardless of their educational qualifications.

The registration is being conducted simultaneously across all 774 local government areas in the country, with the aim of capturing data on all unemployed citizens to aid in proper planning and engagement in profitable ventures.

The NDE coordinator emphasized the importance of data in planning and stated that the agency has been working since 1987 to reduce unemployment and promote self-employment and entrepreneurship.

The NDE offers vocational skills training, small business support, rural empowerment, and special public works programs.

Despite facing challenges such as funding constraints and policy changes, the NDE remains committed to its mandate and calls on state governments to provide support in accessing hard-to-reach areas.

Recently, the NDE successfully trained women in bag and shoe making to provide them with vocational skills and income opportunities.
