Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, revealed during a press briefing in Minna that 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 percent, achieved five credits and above including Mathematics and English.
He added that 1,144,496 candidates scored five credits and above, regardless of English and Mathematics, which equals 84.26 percent.
In total, 1,367,210 students registered for the examination, with 1,358,339 eventually sitting for the papers, nearly split evenly between male and female candidates.
Among them were 1,622 candidates with special needs, including those with hearing and visual impairments.
The registrar pointed out a major drop in malpractice, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025 compared to over 10,000 in 2024, a 61.58 percent reduction.
Thirty-eight schools from 13 states were flagged for mass cheating and will face disciplinary measures.
Nine supervisors across Rivers, Niger, FCT, Kano, and Osun states were also recommended for blacklisting over misconduct and poor supervision.
Wushishi also disclosed that communal clashes in Lamorde, Adamawa State, disrupted examinations in eight schools, affecting 13 subjects and 29 papers, with plans underway to reschedule.
Performance by states showed Kano leading with over 68,000 students, Lagos in second place with 67,007, and Oyo following with 48,742.
NECO also announced it has shifted from the traditional Paper-Pencil Test model to a Computer-Based Test system starting with this year’s exams.
