The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is taking steps to improve the quality of refereeing in the country by introducing Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in regional stadiums.
NFF President, Malam Ibrahim Gusau, announced this at the national elective delegates conference of the Nigeria Referees’ Association (NRA) in Ilorin.
The NFF will also provide training and retraining for referees to ensure they are equipped to use the technology effectively.
Malam Muhammed Ameenu, an NFF official, represented Mr Gusau at the conference and urged the incoming leadership of the NRA to develop plans to nurture and grow the future of Nigerian referees.
The installation of VAR is seen as a crucial step towards the growth and development of football in Nigeria.
Malam Sani Zubair emerged as the winner of the election to lead the NRA.
