Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s plan to move to the All Progressives Congress has stirred political waves, but the New Nigeria Peoples Party insists it has nothing to do with them – www.naijnaira.com reports.
Dr. Ogini Olaposi, the National Secretary of NNPP, said during a media briefing in Lagos that Kwankwaso’s announcement should not be tied to the party.
According to Sahara Reporters, Olaposi stressed that Kwankwaso and his loyalists, known as the Kwankwasiya Movement, were already expelled for what the party described as anti-party actions.
“Any discussions with him are strictly in his personal capacity,” Olaposi said firmly.
Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and NNPP’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, told his supporters over the weekend that he was ready to join APC but warned they would not accept being used and dumped after elections.
Olaposi explained that while NNPP has no quarrel with APC, any collaboration with another party must be a collective decision.
He added that the party is channeling its energy into reorganizing structures across the country as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
