Ola Aina has finally spoken out after undergoing surgery on a torn hamstring that has ruled him out of action for months – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles defender picked up the injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa, where he was forced off just minutes into the match, according to Soccernet.ng.
The setback came only days after he played almost the full game in Nigeria’s victory over Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Back in England, scans confirmed the seriousness of the problem, and doctors scheduled his first ever operation to repair the damage.
Speaking in a video to his fans on Instagram, Aina confirmed: “On the 13th of September, I had my operation. Thank you for all the support and all the messages and stuff.”
The 28-year-old, who previously featured for Chelsea and Torino, added, “It’s my first one, but yeah, I just want to say thank you for all the messages. We move. It’s all in God’s timing; this is God’s plan.”
Aina’s recovery could stretch until December, which raises fears that he may not feature for Nigeria at AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Nottingham Forest already felt his absence during their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.
