Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faced heavy criticism over his statement at a town hall meeting held in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday.

During the meeting, he reportedly suggested that those willing to receive contracts or appointments within his administration had to ensure that their polling unit is won by the PDP.

Reacting to this statement, Festus Keyamo (SAN), a spokesperson for Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, accused Atiku of disregarding the provisions of Nigeria’s Public Procurement Act.

Rufus Ayenigba of the Social Democratic Party urged voters to look into each candidate’s history and make an informed choice.

The Director of Transition Monitoring Group, Auwal Rafsanjani also declared that any candidate who wants to move Nigeria forward must ensure that their actions comply with the law.
