The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is not currently prioritising punishing certain governors who have moved against the party charter by publicly endorsing another presidential candidate.

Debo Ologungaba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary made it clear that they are instead focused on helping the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, win this weekend’s election.

He declined to disclose any disciplinary measures to be taken and instead noted that their present focus goes beyond individual problems and towards major issues in Nigerian socio-economic development.

These include providing solutions for insecurity, poverty, and human development which affects the lives of roughly 100 million Nigerians.

The ‘G-5’ governors comprise Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

This group requested national chairman Iyorchia Ayu to resign but this did not happen while Atiku also refused to demand his resignation.

While Ortom has backed Peter Obi of Labour Party and Wike has reportedly asked people to favour Bola Tinubu of APC, Ikpeazu and Ugwuanyi have yet lean towards either Atiku or Obi while Makinde appears inclined toward Bola Tinubu.
