Venezuela has been placed on alert after the Pentagon accused its forces of sending military aircraft dangerously close to a US Navy ship operating in the Caribbean Sea — www.naijnaira.com reports.
The Pentagon made its stance clear in a strongly worded post on X, telling Caracas that “the cartel running Venezuela is strongly advised not to pursue any further effort to obstruct, deter or interfere with counter-narcotics and counter-terror operations carried out by the US military.”
The report was first carried by Shafaq News, which also noted that the flight occurred in international waters, making it a direct challenge to Washington’s regional presence.
Donald Trump, who recently returned to the spotlight, announced that American forces had intercepted and attacked a boat loaded with drugs that set sail from Venezuela on its way to US shores.
Washington has long accused Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro of using his government to manage a sprawling drug-trafficking network.
In response, the US has doubled the bounty on Maduro, offering a staggering $50 million for information leading to his capture.
Maduro, in turn, has escalated his rhetoric, warning that American military maneuvers are part of a wider plot to impose regime change.
He has vowed that if Washington dares to launch an attack, Venezuela will mobilize nationwide and transform itself into “a republic in arms.”
