Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has visited London to meet with UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak, following trips to Germany and Italy where he met with their leaders and Pope Francis.
The UK has become a major military ally of Ukraine, providing short-range missiles, Challenger tanks, and training for 15,000 Ukrainian troops on British soil.
Last week, the UK announced it had sent Ukraine Storm Shadow cruise missiles, and on Monday, it confirmed it was giving Ukraine hundreds more air defense missiles and long-range attack drones.
Zelenskyy’s visit to European capitals coincided with increased attacks by Russia across Ukraine with drones and missiles.
Zelenskyy also met with French President Emmanuel Macron, who promised to supply dozens of light tanks and armored vehicles, more air defense systems, and to train about 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers in France this year and nearly 4,000 others in Poland.
He said Ukraine would aim to liberate Russian-occupied areas within its internationally recognized borders and not attack Russian territory.
