Enugu Air officially launched with three Embraer aircraft as Governor Peter Mbah’s administration took a bold step into commercial aviation, NaijNaira can report.
At the inauguration, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo called Mbah “an incredible, performing governor,” adding, “We don’t know how to beat him in 2027.”
According to Daily Independent, Keyamo praised Mbah’s persistence and private-sector drive, recalling the governor’s weekly visits to Abuja to fast-track the project.
“Dr. Peter Mbah was coming to Abuja almost every week,” he said. “He didn’t wait for us. He made it happen.”
Keyamo confirmed XEJet, a Nigerian-owned operator also managing Sierra Leone’s airline, would run Enugu Air.
Mbah said Enugu Air would link key Nigerian cities and eventually expand to international destinations including the US, UK, and China.
He added, “It’s a triumph of vision,” aimed at creating jobs and making Enugu a hub for business and investment.
Dignitaries and residents turned out in large numbers for the event.
