The Indian Air Force has set up a court of inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident.

The MiG-21 has been India’s key fighter jet since 1963, but it has been plagued by crashes in recent years, earning it the nickname “the flying coffin” by the Indian media.

India plans to ground its entire fleet of the Soviet-era fighter jet by 2025, according to local media reports.
